On Sunday, January 13, 2013 over 50 medical professionals from the Michigan area came together at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills for The APF Michigan Chapter Meeting for members and supporters of medicine in Israel. The stirring and moving talk of Lt. (reserve) Asael Lubotzky, M.D., a heroic Golani Brigade Officer who was inspired to practice medicine following life changing experiences during the 2006 Lebanon War, was proof of the high quality of medicine practiced in Israel and the sacrifices the country makes to protect itself and care for its soldiers. Also, Dr. Mark Shilkrut, a fellow at the University of Michigan, and current recipient of APF’s Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt Fellowship Award, pointed out the importance of APF’s Fellowship Program, on both a personal level and for the advancement of medicine in Israel. Concluding the event, Dr. Mike Frogel noted how important the relationship between APF and Israeli medicine is for the ongoing success and progress of medicine in Israel.
