About the Program
Who We are
The American Healthcare Professionals and Friends for Medicine in Israel (APF), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization of physicians and healthcare professionals, is committed to advancing the state of medical education, research, and care in Israel by assisting in the training of young Israeli physicians and healthcare professionals, and in fostering ties between the North American and Israel’s healthcare communities.
Who It’s For
The solidarity mission is aimed at a diverse audience that is interested in understanding and supporting the humanitarian efforts being implemented to restore the security and safety of Israeli society, including from all medical professions (acute care, trauma care, public health, care for populations with disabilities, rehabilitation, and more), humanitarian and aid organizations, political leaders and influencers, academic professions, veterans and military personnel, business leaders and entrepreneurs. People from all faiths are welcome to join the mission.
What to Expect
Participants will engage in a comprehensive and insightful program, including visits to key medical and rehabilitation centers, where delegates will learn about treating war casualties, rehabilitation practices, and the challenges medical professionals face in conflict zones. A unique aspect will be understanding the secondary traumatization of medical teams and exploring military response strategies, including medical combat training and Special Search & Rescue operations. The program also includes hands-on experiences, such as volunteering on agricultural farms and participating in community services, directly contributing to local efforts. Additionally, educational sessions on forensic medicine during war and visits to strategic operation centers will deepen the understanding of the complexities of war-affected areas. The mission concludes with a culturally enriching visit to Jerusalem, offering a reflective end to this deeply engaging experience. The program will be delivered in English and medical professionals will be eligible for CME credits

The American Healthcare Professionals and Friends for Medicine in Israel (APF) is an organization of healthcare professionals dedicated to ensuring Israel’s emergency preparedness and enabling Israeli healthcare providers to train in cutting-edge medicine in the U.S. before taking leadership positions in Israeli medical institutions.
Shaping Future Leaders
Since 1951 APF has sponsored more than 1,500 Fellows to help train Israeli physicians in specialty care. From cutting-edge surgical techniques to advanced diagnostic tools to the establishment of new community health clinics, APF is proud to play an integral and critical role in the healthcare of the people of Israel.
Leveraging Partnerships
Because APF is not affiliated with any particular medical institution in Israel, we are able to provide assistance to a wide array of medical facilities and programs in Israel. APF has excellent relations with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Medical Corps of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Enhancing Education
APF provides the opportunity for North American healthcare professionals to receive advanced training in disaster management. APF is proud to offer travel grants and awards to Israeli physicians and other healthcare professionals to facilitate their attendance at international meetings and conferences.

- Visit at Sheba Rehabilitation Center
- Rehabilitation of war casualties

- Visit Evacuees’ center
Day 2
- Visit military medical training base – response teams
- Medical challenges in the war – meet front-line physicians
- Visit in one of the evacuated Kibbutzim in Otef Gaza
- Visit Soroka Medical Center
- Visit Adi Negev Rehabilitation Center & Village
Day 3
- Volunteering in agricultural farms to assist the farmers
- Evening lecture: Forensic medicine during the war to identify the dead and the missing and document war crimes
Day 4
- Visit the Israeli Ministry of Health’s Central Operation Center
- Take part in volunteer community services
- Tour the Old City of Jerusalem
