About the Program

Who We Are

The American Healthcare Professionals and Friends for Medicine in Israel (APF), founded in 1950, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization of physicians and healthcare professionals. APF is committed to advancing the state of medical education, research, and care in Israel by assisting in the training of young Israeli physicians and healthcare professionals, and in fostering ties between the North American’s and Israel’s healthcare communities.

Who It’s For

The course is open to Jews and non-Jews alike. Past participants have included those in the fields of Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Podiatry, Anesthesiology, Family Medicine, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Advanced Practice Nursing, Emergency Medical Technology and Public Health.

What to Expect

The course is all in English; it provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the components of disaster preparedness, as well as of the responses of both pre-hospital and hospital systems and of community resilience. Graduates of the course gain competencies in disaster/emergency preparedness and response so that following this, many continue to build their capacities and become involved in their institutions/fields as part of Emergency Management committees/teams.

Today the world faces serious new challenges in the fight against terrorism. As the State of Israel has matured in this arena, its national mobilization plans, experience and skills have become the gold standard, with potential applicability to scenarios in North America.

Created in conjunction with Israel’s Ministry of Health and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Medical Corps, this one-of-a-kind program offers physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals firsthand training from some of the world’s foremost experts

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email or fax:

60 days prior to departure: $300 plus $100 admin fee
30 days prior to departure: 25% plus $150 admin fee
15 days prior to departure: 50% plus $200 admin fee
Day of departure/No show: 100% forfeiture of all fees
