Dr. Devries served as Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education & Professor of Pediatrics at the Oakland University William Beaumont (OUWB) School of Medicine, and Vice President of Graduate Medical Education at Beaumont Health, an 8-hospital system in Michigan. He provides oversight to more than 900 Residents and Fellows in more than 80 accredited programs. He also mentors medical students conducting educational research projects.
Dr. Devries received BS & MD from the Univ. of Michigan and MPH from the Univ. of Rochester (NY). He completed Pediatric Residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and a Robert Wood Johnson-sponsored General Pediatrics Academic Development Fellowship at the Univ. of Rochester (NY). Serving his entire career in Michigan, he has previously served as Pediatric Residency Director in the Henry Ford Health System, Corporate Director of Children’s Health Services & Pediatric Education in the Oakwood Healthcare System in Dearborn, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and Medical Director of Michigan’s largest Medicaid managed care plan.
Dr. Devries has been to Israel many times, including a summer spent learning at the Hebrew University, and providing lectures at Hadassah Hospital – Ein Kerem and Shaare Zedek Hospital. He is a Board member and President-elect of the APF. During each of the past 2 summers, he had the privilege of serving as scholar-in-residence on APF’s annual Birthright Trip for medical and other health care students. An article he wrote describing that experience was published in The Jerusalem Post.
