Dr. Ron Gurel is participating in an advanced Hand and Upper Limb Surgery fellowship at the Roth | McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Center, one of the world’s leading institutions for both clinical excellence and research in this highly specialized field. Training at this North American center of excellence is essential for acquiring expertise that is not yet available at the same level or scale in Israel.
The Roth | McFarlane Center is internationally recognized for managing some of the most complex cases in hand and upper limb surgery, including severe trauma, advanced reconstructive procedures, and microvascular surgery. Through this fellowship, Dr. Gurel will receive unparalleled hands-on exposure to cutting-edge surgical techniques, innovative treatment strategies, and complex case management, guided by globally respected leaders in the field.
This experience will allow Dr. Gurel to refine advanced skills in reconstructive surgery, upper limb trauma care, and microvascular techniques—capabilities that are critical for restoring function, independence, and quality of life to patients, yet are not widely available in Israel today.
Upon returning to Israel, Dr. Gurel plans to join Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center as a senior hand and upper limb surgeon. There, he will introduce advanced surgical techniques, elevate standards of care, and expand treatment options for patients with complex upper limb conditions. In addition, the fellowship will strengthen his ability to initiate and lead clinical research, contributing to academic advancement and innovation within Israeli orthopedic surgery.
Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Gurel is committed to training the next generation of surgeons. By mentoring young orthopedic surgeons and subspecialty trainees, he will help ensure that the knowledge and skills gained through this fellowship continue to benefit Israeli healthcare for decades.
