Nancy Schmidt graduated in 1986 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Ursuline College. She worked as a surgical nurse at the Cleveland Clinic and the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania from 1986 to 1989 where she helped create Penn’s first bone and soft tissue bank. She also helped develop its first orthopedic oncology program. In 1989 Nancy and her husband, Richard G Schmidt MD began the Musculoskeletal Tumor and Limb Reconstruction Center in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania where she has been the office manager and nurse specialist in orthopedic oncologic surgery for 30 years. Nancy has served on the board of Mission Kids which provides a broad range of support services for abused children. She currently serves on the board of Breastcancer.org which is the number one on line resource for breast cancer information in the world. Nancy is also a breast cancer survivor. She and her husband have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. They are staunch supporters of Israel and both are registered emergency volunteers with the APF.
