Description:
Dr. Shachar Daysi is participating in a highly specialized congenital cardiac surgery fellowship at Emory University—one of the world’s leading centers for pediatric and congenital heart surgery. This level of advanced training is not currently available in Israel, yet it is essential for treating the most complex and life-threatening heart conditions in newborns and children.
Congenital cardiac surgery is among the most technically demanding fields in medicine. Training at a premier U.S. center provides exposure to a high volume of rare and complex cases, advanced surgical techniques, and cutting-edge research that directly influence survival and long-term outcomes. Emory’s integrated clinical and research environment offers Dr. Daysi an unparalleled opportunity to develop both surgical mastery and academic expertise.
Dr. Daysi’s professional path reflects an exceptional level of dedication and service. He studied medicine at the Hebrew University–Hadassah Ein Kerem campus as part of the medical reserve program and subsequently served nearly seven years as a military physician in elite IDF combat units. During this service, he was injured, underwent rehabilitation, and returned to combat duty. During the current war, he again served for approximately five months as a military doctor in a frontline combat unit.
Dr. Daysi’s goal is clear: to return to Israel at the conclusion of the fellowship and apply the surgical expertise, research skills, and clinical standards acquired at one of the world’s best pediatric heart centers.
