To ensure the future generation of leadership, both for APF as well as the Jewish community at large, students are a dynamic aspect of our mission. Through the annual APF/birthright Trip medical, nursing, and other students in health care fields are given the opportunity to experience Israel as tourists, and also learn about the practice of medicine in Israel. This life changing experience is designed specifically for those studying in medical professions.
In ten days students see Israel from the Lebanese and Syrian borders to the Negev and the Dead Sea. They visit the mystic city of Safed, hike the mountains of Galilee, kayak the headwaters of the Jordan River, swim in Kinneret…and that is just the first day! It gets busier and better when they reach Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the Negev. The only things they won’t do are sleep or be bored!
What differentiates APF’s trip from all the others is the opportunity for medical students to raise awareness regarding the medical issues in Israel. Our students spend time and receive training at cutting edge IDF and civilian medical facilities that are simply off limits to “regular” tourists!

“The APF – Birthright experience was an excellent way to combine the life-altering Birthright trip with my interest in expanding my medical perspectives. It was an opportunity to have fun while learning about my Jewish heritage and Israel. Just as importantly, it was a way to enjoy the company of other medical students who share similar interests, and form unique and lasting connections with colleagues from both the United States and Israel.”
